The Training and Development Center (TDC) provides technical, clinical, and professional training to all levels of ProCure staff, as well as to outside users such as physicians, radiation therapy providers, technicians and support teams, university students, and vendors. The Staff Physicist is part of the physics research team located in Bloomington, Indiana. The physics research team supports the broader Technology, Medical Physics, and Operations missions of ProCure through technological and scientific innovation, systems simulation and analysis, and optimization. The Staff Physicist is primarily responsible for leading efforts in the design and implementation of improvements for all aspects of proton radiotherapy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Lead the development and testing of new treatment planning applications.
- Lead the development and implementation of clinic workflow analysis and optimization tools.
- Conceive of and test new ideas for positron emission tomography (PET) application in proton radiotherapy.
- Provide analysis and/or simulation support for a wide variety of clinical and business objectives.
- Design and implement new instrumentation to support medical physics and clinical objectives.
- Perform experimental tests of proton beam instrumentation, analyze data, and publish results.
- Serve as a liaison with ProCure’s technology partners and equipment vendors.
- Assist in the development of curriculum for physics related training modules.
- Assist in writing documentation and users manuals for physics related equipment and applications.
Performs other related duties as required.
The appointment will initially be made at the postdoctoral level with a fixed term. The position may become permanent at the end of the initial postdoctoral tenure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. degree in Physics
- Good understanding of electromagnetic and subatomic physics
- Experience in a laboratory environment
- Experience with numerical optimization and data analysis
- Experience writing and using simulation codes (e.g. Monte Carlo)
- Good administrative, communication and writing skills are required
